A Sound Map of the British Library Sound Archive, London

about

On November 26, 2013, curator Cheryl Tipp of the British Library Sound Archive took me on a tour of the Sound Archive's London offices and basement archives. I collected about three hours of field recordings of the spaces there, and edited them into this piece, a fairly linear walkthrough heavily featuring the sound of Cheryl's shoes, which act as a wonderful focal point to help map the different resonances of the spaces visited throughout the piece. The recordings were made with an Olympus LS-10 digital recorder, and edited in Logic with no effects or equalization.
